Yes, Prime Minister
Gielgud Theatre
Synopsis
Audiences had a chance to witness the return of the characters of Jim Hacker MP, Sir Humphrey Appleby and Private Secretary Bernard Woolley in 2010 as the classic sitcom “Yes, Prime Minister” was retold onstage, this time with David Haig and Henry Goodman in the lead roles. The show is now set to return to the West End for another run in 2011 and those with theatre tickets will undoubtedly relish in the opportunity once again to follow the exploits of these characters in Whitehall with Richard McCabe and Simon Williams taking on the challenge of brining these iconic characters to life.
The show is set to appear at the Apollo Theatre in London and this is where London theatre audiences will witness the duo brought forward to the modern day as the action is updated to incorporate the world of the Coalition Government.
The sitcom originally took the form of “Yes, Minister” and appeared on television screens in the 1980s. Then the character of Jim Hacker MP was given the promotion to Prime Minster and the show became “Yes, Prime Minister” for the rest of its run. With Sir Humphrey Appleby by his side the pair tried to get out of a range of problems with the classic team of Paul Eddington and Nigel Hawthorne bringing them to life.
The show is in safe hands with McCabe and Williams, however, as the pair have both appeared in a range of shows in the West End and London theatre scene over the years, with McCabe appearing in the Duke of York Theatre’s “Twelfth Night” and Williams in “The Power of Yes” at the National Theatre.
“Yes, Prime Minister” appears at the Apollo Theatre from Wednesday 6th July 2011 to Saturday 17th September 2011.
