Daisy Pulls it Off - Arts Theatre

The Arts Theatre invites audiences to take a look at the world of private education in 2010 with the adventurous play “Daisy Pulls it Off” hitting the stage in January. It is a story of wiping the smirk off the face of bullies and uncovering family secrets, whilst engaging in captivating adventures. It is also a story that showcases the lives of those within the private education system of a bygone era and how those of a different social background struggled to find their place amongst their peers.

Denise Deegan’s story focuses on Daisy Meredith, whose status as the daughter of Opera singing parents has meant that she has not been blessed with the wealth of the other girls at the Grangewood School for Young Ladies. Being from a poor background, she would not have expected to get a chance to study at the institution, but that opportunity has presented itself and she must now face the scorn of her classmates – girls who look down on her and attempt to get her expelled at once.

But Daisy is about to make a friend in Clare, the head girl, who shows her that it is not all doom and gloom at the Grangewood School. She informs her of a secret family treasure hidden somewhere in the grounds and the pair decide to embark on a quest to find it. Daisy realises this is a great chance to have an exciting adventure and the two of them embark on midnight journeys and death-defying encounters, whilst audiences are taken on a rollercoaster journey with many surprises left to be found.

Denise Deegan, the writer of the show, has penned many works over the years and in “Daisy Pulls it Off” she presents a story that is right at home for fans of Enid Blyton and anyone who enjoys a good adventure with memorable characters and uplifting morals.
